Who we are
JJL Memorial Rugby League Team and our community are dedicated to honouring the memory of Jerome Joel Leedy and his love of Rugby League. Founded with a heartfelt mission to come together to play the game we love, we’re also representing our culture, making lifelong memories. and honouring Jerome —it’s a community built on respect, resilience, and remembrance.
On the 13th of April 2023 Jerome Joel Leedy, passed away unexpectedly. At only the age of 30 the loss of a talented footy player, class clown and family man shattered the community and his family and friends joined together to heal, share memories and celebrate his life. During his life, Leedy was regarded as a prominent footy player who played representative footy for QLD, Australia and played many games for Indigenous Footy Carnivals.
Jerome loved his footy. During his younger years he was described as a “talented centre” and a “speedster” as he played for Wavell State High School, the Australian Schoolboys and made the Broncos Under 20s team to name a few teams.
JJL Memorial stands as a lasting tribute to those we’ve lost, ensuring their legacy lives on through the positive impact we create together.
